Mid Coast Youth Career Services (MCYCS) is a not-for-profit, organisation dedicated to the youth of our region. 

We are the point of contact for 27 high schools including Government, Catholic and Independent as well as TAFE. We have a range of programs that are available to schools and other youth groups to support and enhance the great job that our teachers and careers advisers are already doing.

This support can be offered as part of a school based program such as resume preparation, work readiness activities including guest speakers, sourcing work placement, Adopt a School Program or in the form of an industry focussed excursion.

Our two programs are:

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

  • Be promoted by Mid Coast Youth Career Services as an organisation supporting youth. This could be via local newspaper articles, local news reports, on Mid Coast Youth Career Services promotional material and on our website  
  • Be recognised as a good citizen of our community
  • Over 1000 companies are currently benefiting from these great programs
  • Be associated with Mid Coast Youth Career Services – an organisation dedicated to the youth of our region
  • Opportunity to promote your business – its services and products
  • Access to potential new recruits
  • Opportunity to increase awareness of business requirements in relation to recruitment, including skills shortages

Benefits of providing  work placement:

  • You will have an additional pair of hands to assist you
  • It is not Year 10 work experience; its an essential course component 
  • Students are keen to work as they don’t receive their HSC until they successfully complete their ‘hands on’ learning in the workplace
  • You get to interview the student before taking them on
  • A student undertaking work placement is the best way to try out potential new staff.
  • You choose when you want the student/s
  • You may increase or decrease this need at your convenience
  • You are under no obligation
  • Students are fully insured by their school or college
  • You will have access to the workforce of the future
  • Mid Coast Youth Career Services has over 2500 students to place this year and due to a high demand for these great vocational courses this number will increase next year

Apart from providing work placement, business can register their interest with Mid Coast Youth Career Services to be involved with Partnership Brokers.
